YÖS’S DESCRIPTION AND QUESTIONS FROM YOU
Foreign students examination (YÖS), will enter the foreign students wishing to study at universities in Turkey and the result is a test they will use to enter these institutions. With the decision taken in 2011, each university organizes the YÖS exam.
WHO CAN APPLY FOR YÖS?
1- The foreign students wishing to study in Turkey, completed the entire
2- secondary education in foreign countries, Turkish citizens who are one of the
3- or nationality of students who have dual citizenship, which TC can take the exam.
NOTE:
Those who have dual citizenship (one of them will be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey) must first quit Turkish Citizenship in order to enter YÖS. If this withdrawal process is done by using the “temporary citizenship law”, the candidates can re-enter Turkish citizenship after the end of the undergraduate education.
NOTE:
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO EXIT FROM TURKISH CITIZENSHIP (FOR BLUE CARD):
• 1 biometric photograph (to be transferred to CD)
• Population registration sample (At the same time, “…………… state citizen” must be written)
• 2 copies of identity
• Accident ruling decision to be obtained from court for minors
• Photocopy of all documents listed above.
Who Cannot Apply to YÖS?
1- Turkish citizens who are
2- North Cyprus Turkish Republic citizens who are one of the
3- Nat TR or TRNC citizens with dual nationality are
4- final given to education because of disciplinary action from the university in Turkey, they do fraud during the
5- YÖS they had participated in previous years exam determining who
6- the government of the Republic of Turkey to foreign governments, which have benefited from the scholarship or from higher education opportunities in order,
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA WITH ENTRY BY UNIVERSITY IN TURKEY WHAT CHANCE?
You can enter most of the universities in Turkey by a high school diploma (if these universities are opened if the quota for school diploma)
NOTE
There is no YÖS requirement in foundation universities. 95% of them accept the student for their undergraduate and undergraduate education with a high school diploma. Also, some foundation universities provide scholarships to students by conducting YÖS.
Is there any age limit to enter or join YÖS?
NO. There is no age limit for participating in this exam or applying.
WHAT ARE THE UNIVERSITIES TAKING STUDENTS WITH YÖS?
Although most universities organize YÖS within their own body, they also accept YÖS made by other universities. E.g; Cumhuriyet University both makes YÖS and accepts YÖS organized by Istanbul University.
From which countries can YÖS be applied?
It can change every year; but in general, candidates with Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Germany, Iran, Greece, Afghanistan, and Bulgaria passports are concentrated.
How many times can I enter YÖS? IS THERE ANY RESTRICTION IN THIS TOPIC?
NO, there are no restrictions. On the contrary, the more the student enters YÖS, the better the chances of winning. Also, taking many exams does not affect the YÖS scores obtained from other universities.
UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY IN TURKEY YÖS in AN EDUCATION IS POSSIBLE?
YÖS is an exam only for the associate and undergraduate education. YÖS has nothing to do with the exams organized to hold a Master or a Doctorate.
When will YÖS applications begin?
It generally starts in January and ends in May; However, since universities vary in this regard, it will not be correct to set an exact date.
YHOW MUCH IS YÖS APPLICATION FEE?
The application fee changes as each university organize YÖS exams itself; but if we specify an average amount, we can say 200-500.
WHAT ARE THE TESTS AND COURSES APPLIED IN YÖS? HOW MUCH OF THESE COURSES ARE ASKED ?
Under the name of basic learning skills test;
40-45 questions General Ability (IQ)
30-35 questions Mathematics
5-30 questions Geometry
WHAT IS THE CONTENT OF THE GENERAL ABILITY (IQ) QUESTIONS ASKED IN YÖS?
There are two types of questions, namely Numerical Ability and Shape Ability. It is quite difficult for a student who does not have a mathematical basis to solve questions that require numerical skills.

HOW TO APPLY FOR YÖS?
Applications for domestic exams are received by the application centers via the internet. Each university announces the date of the exam to the students via the internet and applications must be completed within the deadlines determined by the universities.
WHERE ARE THE GENERAL EXAMINATION CENTERS OF UNIVERSITIES?
Every university can do YÖS at the main examination centers such as Istanbul, Ankara, and İzmir, just as it does the exam in the city where it is located. In addition, students can choose exam centers themselves.
WHICH DOCUMENTS ARE REQUESTED FOR APPLICATION TO UNIVERSITIES?
Generally requested documents are as follows:
1-Passport Photos
2-Candidate’s high school diploma has been translated into Turkish or English and the certified copy is
3-Transcript (document of all the grades obtained during high school life) has been translated into Turkish or English and The approved copy of the
4-Certificate of equivalence showing that the candidate’s diploma has graduated from a school equivalent to Turkish high schools.
5-The original or approved copy of the candidate direction exam
6-The candidate has filled in the application form on the university’s website.
NOTE
What is the approved document and how is it obtained?
- The said document, it was decided in Turkey that is appropriate to the original and signed document.
- The decision-making and signing process is the task of notaries.
- A document can only be accepted and assumed to be true if it has notarization.
- If you are outside Turkish embassies or consulates in Turkey is carrying out these operations.
